Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the evidence available in the literature regarding the epidemiological scenario of schistosomiasis in the Brazilian Amazon. Methods: Integrative review carried out in the Web of Science, PubMed, VHL, and SciELO databases from 1980 to 2025, using the descriptors "schistosomiasis" and "amazonia", analyzing publications in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Results: A total of 15 references were obtained, and the data were analyzed and described in two categories, namely the epidemiology of schistosomiasis and the etiology of schistosomiasis in the Brazilian Amazon. There was a predominance of adult males living in rural areas. In addition, there is a greater production of scientific articles in the state of Pará, where there was the first record of the disease within the Amazonian context. Final considerations: Scientific evidence about the epidemiological scenario of Schistosomiasis in the Brazilian Amazon suggests that the disease is associated with the social vulnerability of the affected population, mainly due to factors such as poor basic sanitation in the areas where they were studied. Despite the broad analysis of years, low scientific production was observed in the study region, which highlights the need for future research focused on this theme, mainly because it is a tool for health surveillance.
