Abstract
Objective: To analyze anti-HPV vaccination coverage and the prevalence of high-grade lesions in cytopathological examinations in the Xingu region before and after the introduction of the anti-HPV vaccine. Methods: A descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional, and analytical study was conducted using data from SIPNI (2014–2022) and InforMS (2023–2024) to calculate vaccination coverage, and from the SISCOLO (2000–2013) and SISCAN (2013–2024) systems for the prevalence of Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion. The pre-vaccine (2004–2013) and post-vaccine (2015–2024) periods were compared, with stratified analysis by municipality and age group (25–64 years). Population data were obtained from DATASUS. Results: During the period from 2014 to 2024, no municipality in the Xingu region reached even half of the 90% vaccination coverage target. The highest coverage record was in 2014, with 33.4%, and the lowest was 2.1%. Regarding the prevalence of high-grade lesions, a significant increase was observed in the post-vaccination period, reaching 14.42 cases per 10,000 inhabitants in 2024, a sharp increase compared to 2013 (2.68 per 10,000). Conclusion: The low vaccination coverage and the increase in the prevalence of lesions suggest challenges in the effectiveness of anti-HPV vaccination in the Xingu region, requiring strategies adapted to local specificities.
