Abstract
Objective: To describe an educational intervention on sexual health with high school adolescents in a rural school, based on the combination of gamification and Freirean pedagogy. Experience report: The activity was carried out in 2024 by a Family Health Strategy (FHS) team in a rural area of Santa Catarina, involving 30 students aged 14 to 17. The intervention was structured in three stages: (1) an anonymous question box; (2) a dialogue-based conversation circle; and (3) a gamified quiz with simulated clinical cases on contraceptive methods, based on materials from the Brazilian Ministry of Health. The activity encouraged critical thinking, experience sharing, and knowledge construction. Increased engagement was observed throughout the process, along with the emergence of spontaneous themes such as sexual identity and a strong interest in lesser-known contraceptive methods such as the intrauterine device (IUD) and female condom. Final considerations: The integration of gamification with critical pedagogy proved effective, low-cost, and applicable to Primary Health Care. The experience reinforced the role of both schools and FHS units as spaces for care and health education.
