Abstract

Objective: To analyze the harm that pesticides cause to the intestinal health of the population and the benefits of organic food. Literature review: Changes in the intestinal microbiota are related, among many factors, to the population's dietary base. The consumption of foods with pesticides is toxic to the intestine, while the intake of organic foods is favorable, contributing to the reduction of diseases, such as cancer, neurological and immunological diseases, ensuring a balance of the microbiota. Final considerations: The creation of public policies that aim to inform the population about the harm caused by pesticides and the benefits of organic food is necessary, as well as guidelines that define methodologies, sampling and scientific standards for microbiota analysis as a risk assessment for pesticide toxicity. Thus, associating sustainable agriculture with intestinal health is essential, as it ensures sustainable development, reduction of diseases, promotion of healthy eating and guarantee of a safer and more balanced environment.
