Abstract

Objective: To investigate and assess the feasibility of using the dental arch as a complementary and reliable method for criminal identification. Literature review: Through a systematic literature review, various national and international scientific articles addressing this topic were selected, analyzed, and synthesized. The analysis focused on the main methods and techniques used in the identification of individuals based on the morphological and structural characteristics of the dental arch. Additionally, advantages such as the resistance of teeth to extreme conditions were discussed, as well as limitations of the method, including the need for previously available dental records. Comparisons with other forensic methods were also considered. Final considerations: It can be concluded that identification through the dental arch represents an effective and complementary tool in criminal investigations. Its practical applicability contributes both to scientific advancement and to the work of professionals in forensic dentistry and public security, promoting greater efficiency in human identification processes in forensic contexts.
