Abstract
Objective: To understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the work practices and dynamics of professionals at a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), focusing on changes in care and the articulation of the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS). Methods: A qualitative study was conducted with seven workers from a CAPS III in a municipality on the coast of São Paulo. Participant observations, open interviews, and autobiographical narratives were used. Thematic analysis identified two main themes: changes in daily work routines and challenges in network coordination. Results: The pandemic led to service disruptions, increased demand, professional overload, fear of infection, and difficulties accessing basic resources. Remote work was limited by users' conditions and the lack of infrastructure in the service. There was a weakening of intersectoral actions and network-based work, compromising comprehensive care. Despite this, professionals sought to maintain bonds with users and reorganize practices in the face of adversity. Conclusion: The study reveals the vulnerability of mental health services in the face of health crises and highlights the need for public policies that include care for professionals, strengthening the RAPS and community-based care, especially in contexts of high social vulnerability.
