Abstract

Objective: Compare these two techniques, analyzing their indications, results, advantages, and disadvantages based on relevant studies. Literature review: The literature reveals that both mentoplasty and hyaluronic acid fillers are effective in the aesthetic treatment of the chin, but they have significant differences. Mentoplasty, a surgery that remodels the chin bone, offers permanent results, but involves risks associated with anesthesia and the surgical process, in addition to requiring a detailed analysis of the facial anatomy to avoid asymmetries. Hyaluronic acid fillers are less invasive, have a fast recovery and temporary results, with the advantage of being able to be adjusted according to the patient's needs. However, they have limitations, such as the need for regular maintenance and the possibility of adverse reactions. Final considerations: The choice between mentoplasty and fillers depends on the patient's profile and expectations, as well as the professional's experience, who must assess the facial anatomy and the most appropriate technique to achieve a natural and harmonious result. Both treatments have advantages and disadvantages that must be carefully evaluated.
