Abstract
Objective: To analyze the epidemiological aspects of dengue cases in the microregion of Codó, Maranhão, Brazil, between 2014 and 2024, focusing on seasonal distribution, clinical-epidemiological profile of the infected individuals, and case incidence. Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive, and retrospective study based on secondary data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), collected through the TABNET platform. Cases confirmed by laboratory and/or clinical-epidemiological criteria were included. The analysis covered sociodemographic variables, dengue classification, case outcomes, and diagnostic criteria. Data were organized in Excel spreadsheets and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: A total of 97 dengue cases were recorded, with a peak in 2022 (36 cases). The highest incidence occurred among adults aged 20 to 39 years (36.1%), females (66.0%), and individuals identified as mixed-race (90.7%). The unspecified form of dengue was the most prevalent (84.5%). Most cases were confirmed by laboratory criteria (70.1%) and resulted in recovery (81.4%). Conclusion: The study highlights the persistence of dengue in the region, with marked seasonality and a predominance among young women. Improvements in diagnostic criteria contrast with the limitations of inconclusive data, indicating the need to enhance epidemiological surveillance.
