Abstract
Objectives: To analyze the therapeutic properties of curcumin, extracted from Curcuma longa, with emphasis on its role in the reproductive system and pregnancy. Literature Review: Curcumin has attracted significant scientific interest due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties. It is effective in neutralizing free radicals and protecting against oxidative stress. Its applications include the treatment of cancer, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disorders. In the female reproductive system, curcumin helps relieve menopause symptoms, treat endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and regulate the menstrual cycle. During pregnancy, studies suggest that curcumin can benefit both maternal and fetal health by preventing complications such as preeclampsia, mainly due to its anti-inflammatory action. Final Considerations: Curcumin demonstrates significant therapeutic potential in human reproduction and pregnancy, showing positive effects on women’s health and helping to prevent gestational complications.
