Abstract
Objective: To report the case of a pediatric patient who used sirolimus, an mTOR inhibitor, for the treatment of slow-flow vascular malformation, evaluating the safety and efficacy of the medication. Case details: Child, 3 years old, followed at the Dermatology outpatient clinic of the Lauro Wanderley University Hospital, diagnosed with lymphangioma, refractory to treatments with oral propranolol and bleomycin infiltration. After starting treatment with oral sirolimus and performing surgery to partially remove the lesion, the lesion was reduced by approximately 64% compared to its initial size, with a significant improvement in quality of life. The patient is being monitored at the outpatient clinic, with a schedule for sirolimus use for 1 year and 9 months. Final considerations: Therapeutic options for vascular malformations are limited. Sirolimus has shown to be a promising treatment, especially for the most severe clinical forms. The small sample size and the lack of dose standardization were the main limitations of the study.
