Abstract
Objective: To identify in the literature the non-pharmacological methods used for pain relief during childbirth. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, with articles published between 2020 and 2025. The guiding question used was: What are the non-pharmacological forms of pain relief in parturients? The search was carried out in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF) and National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE) databases, using the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): “labor pain”, “parturients”, “complementary and integrative practices” and “complementary and integrative therapies”, using combinations with the Boolean operators “AND” and “OR”. Results: Eight articles were found that met the inclusion criteria and the most commonly used methods were: Floral Therapies, Essential Oils, Auriculotherapy Massages, Reflexology, Hypnosis, Acupressure, Music Therapy and applications of heat or cold. Final considerations: Non-pharmacological practices, when properly applied, reduce labor pain, reduce medical interventions and promote more humanized and woman-centered care.
