Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the level of satisfaction and self-confidence of medical students regarding sepsis teaching through TBL and clinical simulation. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, quantitative study carried out with 121 students from a private university in Belém do Pará, from January 2023 to June 2024. The students underwent TBL sessions associated with clinical simulations on sepsis. An instrument was applied to assess the level of satisfaction and self-confidence of the students. The Kappa Fleiss test was applied to verify the degree of agreement of the responses, with a significant level of alpha < 0.05. Results: A total of 121 students participated, with a mean age of 26 years. The overall Kappa Fleiss test was 0.50 for satisfaction and 0.48 for self-confidence (p- < 0.001), both considered a moderate level of agreement. Conclusion: The combined use of TBL and clinical simulation stimulated self-confidence and promoted satisfaction among students. Thus, it is a strategy with potential for the teaching-learning process on early identification, care and allocation of patients with sepsis in emergencies and urgent care settings.
