Abstract
Objective: To identify the quality of life of people with colostomy who undergo intestinal irrigation. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, carried out between September and October 2024, by two researchers independently, searching the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online/Pubmed, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Scientific Electronic Library Online, Scopus and Web of Science databases, using controlled descriptors crossed with each other with the Boolean operator AND. Rayann software was used to select the studies, and graphs and tables were used to present the data. Results: Through the search and after the data selection and extraction process, seven studies were included, which recommend the practice of intestinal irrigation as it is a therapeutic alternative with good effects on improving the quality of life of people living with colostomy. Final considerations: Through this review, it was possible to identify primary studies on the use of therapeutic irrigation in the quality of life of adults with colostomy, with suggestions for improving practices and management of patients who undergo this procedure.
