Abstract

Objective: To understand the population's perception of dengue, Chikungunya fever and Zika in Basic Health Units (BHU’s) in a municipality in the interior of the Amazon. Methods: This is a descriptive, exploratory and quantitative cross-sectional study carried out with 180 users of three BHU’s, located in central and peripheral areas of the state of Pará. Data was collected using a questionnaire prepared by the researchers. The data was analyzed using Microsoft Excel Office 2019. Results: The sample included participants aged 18 to 74, mostly with an average monthly income and completed high school. It was noted that the participating population has an understanding of the diseases studied, especially dengue, with 97.2% claiming to know this disease, while only 66.7 and 68.9 say the same about, respectively,  Chikungunya fever and Zika. Conclusion: Knowledge about arboviruses in the analyzed UBS’s is limited, especially regarding Chikungunya and Zika. Dengue is the most recognized, but there are still gaps in understanding. The need for educational campaigns and strengthening Primary Health Care for a more effective fight is highlighted.
