Abstract
Objective: To analyze the pharmacoepidemiological profile of patients with rheumatoid arthritis assisted in Brazil through a literary review. Method: This study is a quantitative method, with descriptive objective in the form of an integrative review of literature, searched for in scientific articles published in periodicals indexed in the electronic databases: VHL, Bireme and SciELO in the period from 2011 to 2016, with Keywords: Rheumatoid Arthritis, treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, prevalence of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Brazil. Results and discussion: In Brazil, the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis varied from 0.2% to 1% of the population, with a predominance of females with a mean age of 40 years, being in agreement with the incidence observed in studies. The base drugs for treatment according to the study were MMDC (Synthetics), most necessarily Methotrexate due to being more tolerated and efficient, followed by MMDC (biological). However, the prevalent drug therapy was the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs associated with corticosteroids and a moderate rest. Conclusion: The need for individualized, follow-up, more effective treatment and use of combination therapy to minimize treatment discomfort was observed.
