Abstract

Objective: To analyze the knowledge about the COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination situation among nursing students. Method: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted among nursing students of the University of Pernambuco who underwent immunization against COVID-19. Data were collected by applying an electronic questionnaire. Results: The sample consisted of 216 participants, mostly female, aged between 20-21 years, single, white and from Recife. There was no refusal to vaccinate in the sample. 67.7% were immunized against COVID-19 with Pfizer®. The motivation in choosing immunobiological was related to the lowest adverse reaction (50.92%). On the concept of vaccine effectiveness: 40.74% defined as immune stimulus, 37.97% believed that adverse reaction is a collateral effect. 67.1% did not know what Active Pharmaceutical Input was. 44.44% considered that pre-clinical and clinical studies were sufficient for the release of vaccines. 81.49% attributed to the National Health Surveillance Agency the vaccine release. Conclusion: It was found that there is still a lot of ignorance about immunizants, even among people who have greater access to reliable information. It reinforces the importance of increasing knowledge about vaccines, in order to have a positive impact on vaccination coverage.
