Abstract

Objective: To identify nursing care for people with amputation due to diabetic complications in the currently available literature. Methods: This is an integrative review study, carried out in December 2019, following the PRISMA recommendations. The databases used were: Lilacs, Medline, Pubmed, Scopus and Web of Science, through the intersections: “Nursing Care and Amputation” and “Nursing Care and Diabetes Complications”. Results: A total of 2,389 studies were found, of which 12 were selected. Results: Most of the studies were published in English, from 2015 to 2019. Thirty-nine nursing care procedures were identified, related to the aspects of Pain (n = 10), Stump (n = 8), Nutrition (n = 4), Emotional (n = 6) and Education (n = 11), in order to encompass Biological, Psychological and Socio-educational dimensions of care. Final considerations: Can be considered that after amputation, using nursing care based on scientific evidence can promote comprehensive and holistic care, intervening in the biopsychosocial aspects of people with amputation related to diabetes complications.
