Abstract

Objective: To analyze the scientific literature on the diagnosis of oral lesions in people affected by leprosy.
Methods: This is a bibliometric review based on publications indexed in national and international scientific databases, accessed through the journal portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. Eligibility criteria were applied, resulting in the selection of eight articles for analysis.
Results: Most studies were conducted in India and Brazil, with a predominance of quantitative approaches. The main findings included clinical, laboratory, and epidemiological manifestations of oral lesions, such as ulcers, nodules, xerostomia, and dental infections. A lack of qualitative studies and specific clinical guidelines was identified. Final considerations: Scientific production on the subject is limited and concentrated in a few countries. There is a need to expand qualitative research, adopt accessible diagnostic technologies, and provide professional training to integrate oral health into leprosy care.
