Abstract

Objective: To discover and analyze the profile of hospitalizations and two pediatric deaths due to bronchiolite in non-Amapá state, considering variables such as age, sex, season and clinical illness. Methods: Epidemiological, quantitative, descriptive and retrospective study, with secondary data of SIH and SIM, referring to the period from 2015 to 2024, involving hospitalizations and deaths in children under five years of age. Results: Foram registered 2,108 hospitalizations and 9 deaths due to bronchiolite in the analyzed period. The highest rate of hospitalizations will occur in 2023, with 29.42 per thousand live births. The trend test indicates an increase in hospitalizations over two years (R²=0.0785). The majority of deaths occurred in children under 1 year of age (77.7%; n=7), with a predominance of females (66.6%) and brown children (66.6%). The interns are mainly concentrated in children under one year of age (74.6%; n=1,572), followed by the age group from 1 to 4 years (21.5%; n=453), with a highlight for the year 2018 (18.3%; n=387). The trend test for hospitalizations does not indicate a continuous crescent pattern (R²=0.3149). Conclusion: We observed a higher prevalence of hospitalizations and deaths due to bronchiolitis in children under one year of age, with a predominance of cases among the female sex and brown children, parents that reflect the national trend in disease.
