Abstract
Objective: To analyze the main causes of occupational stress among healthcare professionals in the workplace, identifying contributing factors. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, with articles published between 2020 and 2025 in english, portuguese, or spanish, freely accessible and available in full. The guiding question was developed using the PICo strategy, and the search was conducted in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, filtering the LILACS, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and National Library of Medicine (PubMed) databases using health science descriptors (DeCS). Results: Twenty-four scientific articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected. Analysis of these studies identified several factors that contribute to occupational stress. Final considerations: Occupational stress in nursing is multifactorial, with work overload, physical and emotional exhaustion, poor organizational conditions, and interpersonal conflicts standing out, which requires integrated prevention actions and healthy work environments to ensure the physical and mental well-being of professionals.
