Abstract
Objective: To synthesize the scientific literature on parental self-efficacy scales for caring for children with acute and chronic health conditions. Methods: An integrative literature review was conducted according to a six-stage methodological protocol. The search was conducted in PubMed, BVS, and Web of Science between January and February 2025. Articles addressing the application of scales to parents of children with clinical conditions were included, and those addressing newborns, adolescents, or pregnant women were excluded, totaling 24 studies. Fifteen scales were analyzed regarding their dimensions, target population, response format, and applicability. Results: Scales for different pediatric contexts were identified, with a predominance of those developed in the United States, primarily focused on the technical management of chronic conditions, while emotional, social, and cultural aspects were rarely addressed. Most scales are multidimensional, which favors a more comprehensive approach to parental self-efficacy. However, most have not been translated or adapted to the Brazilian context. Final considerations: It is essential to develop scales that consider the biopsychosocial dimensions of parenting and are validated in diverse cultural contexts. The findings provide support for the selection of instruments in pediatric clinical practice and for future research in this area.
