Abstract

Objective: To describe the manifestations, diagnosis, and therapy of a rare case of ectopic prostatic tissue (EPT) presenting as a bladder mass and to review its main differential diagnoses. Case details: A 65-year-old male with a history of prostate resection presented with gross hematuria. Investigation revealed a 6 cm bladder mass on the floor and trigone, initially suspected to be malignant. He underwent a complete endoscopic resection of the lesion. The histopathological examination of the 51-gram specimen was compatible with benign prostatic hyperplasia, establishing the diagnosis of EPT. The patient had an uneventful recovery and remains asymptomatic at one-year follow-up. Final considerations: Ectopic prostatic tissue is a rare entity that must be included in the differential diagnosis of bladder masses to avoid overtreatment. Histopathological confirmation is indispensable, with endoscopic resection being a safe and curative procedure for this condition.
