Abstract
Objective: To characterize the lipid profile of patients with inflammatory arthropathies and to assess the influence of antirheumatic treatment on lipid parameters. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted based on the analysis of 244 medical records, of which 86 were selected for data collection. Statistical analysis was performed using Bioestat 5.0 software, considering a significance level of p < 0.05 and a 95% confidence interval. Results: The sample was predominantly female (82.6%), aged over 60 years (47.7%), with a high prevalence of comorbidities (79.1%). The most frequent diagnoses were rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and psoriatic arthritis. The prevalence of dyslipidemia increased from 53.5% to 57.0%. Analysis of lipid parameters showed a reduction in total cholesterol, an increase in HDL-c, and a decrease in both LDL-c and triglycerides. Methotrexate was the most commonly used treatment (57%). Conclusion: Adequate therapeutic management contributes to clinical remission or to a significant reduction in inflammatory activity, as evidenced in the literature, which may lower cardiovascular risk, particularly in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. These findings highlight the importance of systematic screening and early intervention for dyslipidemia, in parallel with antirheumatic therapy and the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits.
