Abstract

Objectives: Critically analyze the evidence available in the scientific literature on diagnosis, treatment and cardiac complications associated with Chagas disease, highlighting current therapeutic perspectives. Methods: This is an integrative review, carried out from the selection of 09 studies indexed in the databases PubMed, Lilacs and Scielo, between the years 2014 to 2024. Descriptors such as "Chagas disease", "Trypanosoma cruzi", "diagnosis" and other related terms were used with Boolean operators in publications in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Results: The selected studies showed important advances in the diagnostic and therapeutic field, highlighting the need to update clinical guidelines and the search for new management strategies, such as the use of experimental therapies, improvements in the early detection and strengthening of public policies aimed at controlling the disease. Final considerations: The analysis of the literature has shown that, despite the progress achieved, there are still significant gaps in the early diagnosis and effective treatment of Chagas disease, especially in chronic forms. The social relevance of the study is reflected in the need to expand access to diagnosis and treatment, with a direct impact on patients' quality of life and reduction of morbidity and mortality associated with the disease.
