Abstract

Objective: To describe the relationship between intestinal dysbiosis and the development of chronic diseases, emphasizing the related pathophysiological mechanisms, as well as to enumerate the therapeutic strategies and prophylactic measures that can be used in the clinical management of dysbiosis. Bibliographic review: This review reveals significant academic and professional interest in addressing dysbiosis, from its pathophysiology to therapeutic management, highlighting the importance of an adequate nutritional diet, the use of prebiotics, probiotics, and lifestyle improvements. It is also noted that in many chronic conditions, therapeutic approaches often fail to consider or correlate the underlying disease with dysbiosis. Conclusion: For more effective clinical management of certain chronic conditions, it is essential to consider the presence of dysbiosis. Including this condition in the context of medical treatment for these individuals will allow for a more comprehensive approach, avoiding partial treatment of the disease and reducing the risk of unfavorable outcomes caused by alterations in the intestinal microbiota.
