Abstract

Objective: To demonstrate the development and validation of a strategic flowchart used to standardize the medical record review process by internal audit in the hospital billing department of a philanthropic institution that serves exclusively through the Unified Health System (SUS). Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, with interviews and face and content validation involving nine experienced professionals. The flowchart was developed using Bizagi Modeler software and validated through consensus among the participants. Results: The main results indicated that the flowchart significantly contributes to improving communication and process efficiency, in addition to facilitating compliance with regulatory standards and promoting collaborative management. The diversity of professional profiles involved, including areas such as nursing, administration, and mathematics, provided a multidisciplinary perspective, enriching the consensus process. Conclusion: The flowchart validation was positive, with 100% approval in the criteria of clarity, relevance, and relevance. Despite its contributions, the study was limited by its application in a single institution. Its implementation in other healthcare facilities is recommended to verify its applicability and expand the results obtained.
