Abstract

Objective: To produce and validate an e-book on the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries (PI) aimed at caregivers of bedridden patients at home. Methods: This methodological study was conducted in a hospital in Belém, Pará State, with 54 caregivers of bedridden patients from three clinical sectors. Data collection was based on a literature review and the application of an evaluative questionnaire using a Likert scale to identify knowledge gaps that supported the e-book development. The material, written in accessible language and featuring illustrations and a narrative format, was validated by experts using the Content Validity Index (CVI), adopting a minimum agreement criterion of 80%. Results: Caregivers demonstrated good knowledge of preventive measures but showed weaknesses regarding PI staging, the use of the Braden Scale, and therapeutic approaches. The predominant profile was female, middle-aged, with secondary or higher education, working in the informal sector, and having a strong family bond with the patient, dedicating long daily hours to caregiving. The e-book was considered clear, relevant, and applicable. Conclusion: The e-book represents an accessible and effective educational tool to enhance caregivers’ practices, contributing to continuity of care, prevention of complications, and improvement in the quality of life of bedridden patients.
