Abstract

Objective: To identify relationships between the working conditions and quality of life of healthcare professionals and the presence of systemic arterial hypertension. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted with nurses and physicians. Participants were assessed for hypertension distribution within their professional groups using questionnaires to characterize the sociodemographic characteristics of the sample and a quality of work life questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Jamovi software. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: Among physicians, there was a predominance of males (56.6%), with a median age of 56 years. Among nurses, 83.87% were female, with a mean age of 39 ± 8 years. Regarding quality of life, physicians had higher mean scores in all domains assessed compared to nurses. Physicians were more frequently hypertensive, and individuals with higher scores in the physical/health, personal, and global assessment domains also had a higher prevalence of hypertension. Conclusion: The present study highlighted relevant differences between doctors and nurses regarding the prevalence of systemic arterial hypertension, sociodemographic characteristics, work characteristics and quality of life.
