Abstract

Objective: To discuss a case of oral rehabilitation with immediate complete dentures after extractions in a patient with type II diabetes mellitus, considering the clinical, aesthetic, and emotional aspects of recovery. Case details: Clinical case report of a 29-year-old patient with decompensated diabetes mellitus, who underwent rehabilitation with immediate complete dentures after multiple extractions. Due to the advanced stage of periodontitis and difficulty in healing, it was decided to remove all remaining teeth in a single session and immediately install the dentures. The treatment allowed for adequate healing, prosthetic stability, and functional and aesthetic improvements for the patient. It was found that rehabilitation with immediate removable complete dentures, combined with an appropriate treatment plan, provides significant benefits in alveolar healing and quality of life for diabetic patients undergoing multiple extractions. It was also observed that, even in compromised systemic conditions such as diabetes mellitus, it is possible to achieve satisfactory clinical results when there is glycemic control, careful surgical planning, and adequate postoperative follow-up. Final considerations: Immediate removable complete dentures have proven effective in the functional and aesthetic rehabilitation of diabetic patients, provided there is rigorous glycemic control and continuous follow-up.
