Abstract
Objective: to investigate the prevalence of uterine myomatosis in pregnant women and to verify the complications and main symptoms caused by fibroid during pregnancy. Method: quantitative study of the retrospective type of descriptive nature, in which 23 medical records of pregnant women with myomatosis were analyzed through a structured data collection form. Results: The prevalence of myomatosis found in pregnancy was 2.5%. Statistically significant factors were age and race. The use of oral contraceptives demonstrated that regardless of the use the myomatosis can occur, because there was no significant statistical difference. Adverse obstetric events were found only as a consequence of uterine myomatosis, since the occurrence of other pathologies described in the medical records was not observed. Conclusions: Uterine fibroids in pregnancy are a relevant health problem, with prevalence found similar to that described in the Brazilian literature, where the highest number of cases was in brown women, older than 30 years.
