Abstract
Methods: This is an epidemiological, quantitative, descriptive, and retrospective study based on secondary data obtained from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN). Confirmed and suspected cases of rodenticide poisoning were included, and variables such as year of notification, sex, age group, exposure circumstance, and clinical outcome were analyzed. Results: The results showed variations in the number of cases over the study period, with a peak in 2019 and a significant increase in 2024 (124 notifications). Most poisonings occurred as suicide attempts (516 cases), followed by accidental exposures (128 cases). The most affected age group was 20 to 39 years (256 notifications), with a predominance of females (58%). Most cases evolved to recovery without sequelae (556), although 22 deaths were recorded. The municipalities of Belém and Marabá concentrated the highest number of cases. Conclusion: It is concluded that rodenticide poisonings in Pará are strongly associated with self-harm attempts, mainly affecting women and young adults. These findings highlight the need for public policies focused on mental health, stricter regulation of rodenticide sales, and educational campaigns promoting the safe use of these products.
