Abstract

Objective: To identify the efficacy of the Butantan-DV vaccine among Brazilians for four dengue serotypes, identify possible gaps in vaccine development, and clarify factors that influence efficacy. Methods: This is a scoping review, conducted between May and November 2024 with searches in PubMed/Medline, Virtual Health Library, ScienceDirect, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Scopus. Works with a time frame from 2019 to 2024 were included; texts in English and Portuguese; Full texts. Duplicate articles, monographs, course completion papers, review studies, and those that did not fit the objectives proposed by the researchers were excluded. Results: The sample consisted of 5 literatures, published between 2020 and 2024. From the bibliography, the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of the Butantan-DV vaccine against dengue was verified. However, the vaccine does not present satisfactory efficacy data for the DENV-3 and DENV-4 serotypes. Final considerations: The Butantan-DV vaccine has the potential to mitigate cases of symptomatic dengue.
