Abstract
Objective: To evaluate changes in cardiorespiratory profile, nutritional status, and quality of life of undergraduate students, as well as the risk of chronic noncommunicable diseases. Methods: Descriptive and quantitative field study conducted with 38 nursing students. Sociodemographic characterization instruments, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, a quality-of-life questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, a dietary recall, biochemical analysis, anthropometric and body composition assessment, blood pressure measurement, and the Cooper test were used. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Most participants were women (76.3%) with a healthy lifestyle, despite alcohol (52.6%) and medication use (73.7%). Most had no comorbidities (86.8%). Men had higher mean weight (78.52 kg) and BMI (24.82 kg/m²), while women showed higher body fat percentage (28.48%). In quality of life, the Social Relationships domain had the highest mean score (71.05%) and the Psychological domain the lowest (55.37%). Sleep was rated as good by 50% of participants. Physical activity assessment indicated that 34.21% of the students were very active. Conclusion: Most participants were eutrophic; however, the presence of overweight and underweight highlights the need for nutritional programs and food policies to promote health and prevent chronic noncommunicable diseases.
