Abstract
Objective: To analyze the factors associated with the development of burnout syndrome in nursing professionals working in adult ICUs. Methods: Qualitative research of a descriptive-exploratory nature on Burnout syndrome in nursing professionals in the adult intensive care unit, using Bardin's content analysis method, carried out in a private hospital in the city of Manaus, Amazonas, in October 2025. Data collection was conducted through a semi-structured interview, recorded in person and individually, in a private setting, ensuring the confidentiality of the information collected. Results: The study revealed that excessive working hours, the need for multiple employment relationships, extreme fatigue, existing conflicts, and lack of team support are central elements in the development of burnout syndrome, which have negative impacts on personal life and the quality of care. Conclusion: It is concluded that the factors contributing to the development of burnout syndrome are present in the daily lives of the research participants, and understanding these factors is essential for developing institutional programs to support the mental health of nursing teams working in these units.
