Abstract

Objective: To analyze the prevalence profile of dengue hemorrhagic fever in the Brazilian Midwest between 2019 and 2025, as well as possible related factors. Methods: This is an ecological study, conducted between 2024 and 2025, using DATASUS with the following descriptors: year of notification, month of notification, region of notification, age group, race, sex, final classification, evolution, serological test (IgM) Dengue, viral isolation test, RT-PCR test, serotype, and hospitalization. Results: A reduction in reported cases of classic and hemorrhagic dengue fever was observed during the years of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021), attributed to underreporting, followed by a significant increase in 2022 and a peak in 2024. Most cases involved adults and the elderly, especially males and those of mixed race, and the main circulating viral serotypes during the period were DENV-1 and DENV-2. In 2025, there was a significant decrease in cases, possibly related to the introduction of the Qdenga® vaccine. Conclusion: The findings reinforce the importance of vaccination and continuous epidemiological surveillance, especially in highly endemic regions such as the Midwest.
