Abstract
Objectives: To determine the epidemiological profile of colorectal cancer in a teaching hospital in Goiânia, through the analysis of histopathological examinations of colonoscopies. Methods: This is a quantitative cross-sectional study, carried out through the analysis of histopathological examinations of colonoscopies performed between 2022 and 2023/1, in the pathology laboratory of the hospital. Sex, age, tumor location, histopathological picture, histological pattern, and histological grade were analyzed. The software used for statistical analysis was Python. Results: The highest prevalence of colorectal cancer was in the age groups of 56-65 years (29%) and 66-75 years (27%). Patients under 50 years of age accounted for 15.75% of the sample. Adenocarcinoma was the most common histopathological type (67%), followed by adenomas with high-grade dysplasia (28%). The most frequent tumor location was the rectum (26%), and the tubular histological pattern was the most common. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of early screening, given the significant number of cases in individuals under 50 years of age. Continued research is essential to monitor trends and adjust treatment strategies.
