Abstract

Objective: To investigate occupational and hearing health data of Community Health Agents (CHAs), associate hearing complaints with auditory thresholds, and promote training on hearing health. Methods: Cross-sectional, observational, quantitative study, conducted in a public institution with 30 female CHAs aged 37–73 years. Participants underwent clinical-occupational anamnesis, Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA), High-Frequency Audiometry (HFA), acoustic immittance, otoacoustic emissions, and a training session on hearing health promotion. Descriptive and inferential analyses were performed. Results: Mean age was 49.9 years. Noise (87.1%) and dust (83.9%) were the most reported occupational risks. Tinnitus (45.2%) and dizziness (48.4%) were the most frequent symptoms. None used hearing protection. PTA showed normal results in 83.9% of right ears and 58.1% of left ears. HFA revealed absent responses at 14 and 16 kHz. No association was found between hearing loss and PTA. Conclusion: Continuous monitoring of noise exposure and periodic audiometric assessments are essential for early detection and prevention of hearing loss. Educational interventions and self-care practices strengthen hearing health promotion among CHAs and enhance awareness of occupational risks.
