Abstract

Objective: To map the scientific literature on parenting as a factor related to suicidal ideation in adolescents. Methods: This is a scoping review, in which a search was conducted in the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) databases, using Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) related to “parenting,” “adolescents,” and “suicidal ideation,” combined with the Boolean operator "AND." Inclusion criteria were: full-text articles available, addressing the topic in Portuguese or English, and published in the last five (5) years. Results: A total of 13 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included, addressing the relationship between parenting and suicidal ideation in adolescence. Final considerations: It can be considered, based on the present study, that there is an important relationship between parenting and suicidal ideation in adolescents. However, the scarcity of literature on the subject, especially in Brazil, is noteworthy.
