Abstract

Objective: To identify through scientific literature the main communication challenges faced by healthcare professionals during in-hospital cardiac arrest. Methods: An integrative review was conducted between May and June 2024 using the CAPES Journal Portal, searching MEDLINE via PubMed, SCOPUS, Embase, Science Direct, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, SciELO, and the Virtual Health Library (VHL), including LILACS, BDENF, and IBECS. Results: The final sample consisted of seven articles. Evidence demonstrated that effective communication is essential for coordinating interventions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation, being decisive for safety and quality of care. However, several factors hinder communication, such as environmental noise, simultaneous interactions among professionals, and complex technical terminology. Final Considerations: Communication failures among teams can compromise decision-making and collective performance. Stress, lack of rapport, and excessive hierarchy also interfere with communication flow. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen continuous training programs focused on communication and teamwork, as well as to adopt structured protocols and a culture of open communication to optimize care in critical situations and promote a safer and more efficient hospital environment.
