Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the knowledge of women of reproductive age attended by the public health system regarding the prevention, treatment, and complications of syphilis. Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, and analytical study with a quantitative approach, conducted in Anápolis-GO between August 2024 and February 2025, with a sample composed of 100 women over 18 years of age. Results: The participants were between 18 and 50 years old, predominantly in the 18-35 age group, and half had completed high school. A significant association was found between education level and knowledge level (p<0.05). It was found that 41% had low knowledge, 55% had a medium level, and only 4% had a high level. Only 25% knew that treatment varies according to the clinical phase, and 35% were unaware of the rapid test. Regarding congenital syphilis, 72% recognized the importance of gestational screening, but only 18% were aware of the fetal complications. Conclusion: It is concluded that knowledge remains limited, reinforcing the need for educational actions and health promotion strategies.
