Abstract

Objective: To identify in the literature the clinical outcomes in patients diagnosed with Takotsubo Syndrome. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, where the selection of publications was carried out using the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and PubMed databases. The search terms used in PubMed were: PubMed: "Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy", "Prognosis" using the Boolean operator AND, and in the Virtual Health Library (VHL): "Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy", "Prognosis", linked by the Boolean operator AND. Results: 322 articles indexed in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and 712 in PubMed were found. 16 articles were selected for the final sample. Final considerations: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, although generally reversible, can be associated with relevant clinical outcomes, especially during the acute phase and in long-term follow-up. Among the main complications observed are cardiogenic shock, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, thromboembolic events, and hospital mortality. Factors such as reduced ejection fraction, need for catecholamine support, and presence of atrial fibrillation were associated with a worse prognosis. Therefore, early recognition of the condition is crucial. It is fundamental for optimizing therapeutic management, reducing complications, and improving clinical outcomes.
