Abstract

Objective: To understand the impacts – for the nursing staff and patients – of the use of robotic surgery technology in Brazil; to know in which surgeries it has already been applied in Brazil; what the challenges of its use are; and to list the professional perspectives in this new scenario. Literature review: Robotic surgery represents a significant advancement in minimally invasive surgery, offering greater precision, improved three-dimensional visualization, and enhanced control of surgical movements. It is primarily applied in general, urological, digestive, oncological, and thoracic surgeries. For patients, the benefits include less surgical trauma, reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery. For the nursing staff, this technology demands specific training, technical mastery of the equipment, operating room organization, and active participation in all phases of the perioperative period. However, factors such as the high cost of the technology, limited access to services, and a scarcity of structured training represent challenges to its widespread dissemination. Final considerations: Robotic surgery has a positive impact on patient care and nursing work. However, its consolidation in Brazil depends on investment in professional training, standardization of care, and increased access to technology.
