Abstract

Objective: To select and analyze the recent literature on the use of fluid composite resin (RF) in dentistry. Methods: In this integrative review, a search strategy was built for the Pubmed database, in October 2025, using the indexed terms flowable resin, flow resin, low viscosty resin and dentistry, with Boolean operators OR and AND. Documents from the last five years were selected. Results: After reading the title, abstract and/or full text, 28 studies were included, of which 75% were laboratory-based. 32.14% of the studies investigated microtraction, polymerization contraction, marginal integrity, or bond strength. The least frequent theme was the evaluation of color stability, with only three laboratory studies. The oldest article was published in 2020 and the most recent in 2025. Final considerations: Most of the articles published in the last five years present laboratory design and address themes related to the properties of the material. Although its clinical use is widespread, literature lacks clinical studies that evaluate the longevity of this material. Thus, future research that seeks to fill knowledge gaps is necessary to discuss the real indication of RF.
