Abstract
Objective: To define the importance of teaching bioethics and palliative care in nursing residency training, taking into account the ethical, clinical, and emotional conflicts involved in healthcare practice. Literature review: The findings indicate that the systematic inclusion of bioethics and palliative care content is a central element in the process of qualifying nursing training, enhancing ethical decision-making, person-centered care, and the promotion of human dignity in the stages of illness and finitude. Curricular gaps and weaknesses were observed in the training of residents to manage complex situations, which justify the need to structure pedagogical strategies and continuing education. Final considerations: It concludes that ethical reflection is essential in professional training, enhancing the social commitment of nursing and the consolidation of humanized care practices, integrated and guided by bioethical principles in healthcare.
