Abstract
Objective: To analyze the practice of physical exercise as a self-care strategy in people with Noncommunicable Chronic Diseases. Methods: This is an integrative literature review conducted in August 2025, in the databases SciELO, LILACS, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science. Results: Fourteen studies published between 2021 and 2025 were included. The results highlighted the complexity of chronic conditions, which require continuous monitoring and expanded coping strategies, emphasizing factors such as educational level, previous experiences, structural and social barriers, inequalities in access, and social and professional support influencing the practice of physical exercise as self-care. Furthermore, elements such as motivation, pleasure, satisfaction, and physical and mental well-being were determinant for adherence and continuity. Final considerations: Strategies centered on each person's needs, recognizing the multiple dimensions physical, emotional, cultural, social, and symbolic favor the re-signification of illness and the strengthening of autonomy in self-care.
