Abstract

Objective: Analyze oral manifestations associated with individuals affected by dengue. Methods: Searches were performed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), National Library of Medicine (NIH/PubMed), and Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases between April 2024 and September 2025 by three independent researchers. The descriptors dengue, oral manifestation, and mouth mucosa were used, combined with the Boolean operators AND and OR. Results: A total of 53 studies were identified across the databases. After screening titles and abstracts and conducting full-text assessments according to the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, 8 studies were included in the review. Conclusions: Dengue virus infection may be associated with various oral manifestations, particularly spontaneous bleeding, petechiae, vesicles, bullae, plaques, and hemorrhagic crusts. Less frequent alterations, such as pseudomembranous candidiasis, transient lingual papillitis, and xerostomia, were also reported. The recognition of these manifestations by dental professionals may contribute to the early diagnosis of dengue and to the reduction of disease-related morbidity.
