Abstract

Objective: To systematically review the scientific evidence on the neuroprotective potential of polydatin and quercetin in neurodegenerative diseases. Methods: This is a qualitative and descriptive systematic review conducted in the PubMed and SciELO databases, using MeSH and DeCS descriptors combined with Boolean operators. Studies published between 2020 and 2025 were included. Results: Nine studies on the topic were selected, from which the following data were extracted: the antioxidant, title and year of publication, objective, methodology, mechanism of action, and conclusion for analysis. The results indicate that polydatin and quercetin exhibit neuroprotective activities considered relevant, acting in the modulation of biological pathways associated with neurodegeneration and in the attenuation of symptoms. Conclusion: The analyzed data strengthen the evidence that antioxidants are a promising alternative, with a range of activities, not only minimizing symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases and the side effects caused by current drugs but also modulating the biological processes that lead to neurodegeneration.
