Abstract
Objective: To analyze the diagnostic accuracy of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) when compared to Magnetic Cholangiography, Ultrasonography and Tomography in bile duct pathologies. Methods: This is an observational, analytical-descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study based on electronic medical record data from 60 patients at Hospital Universitário Evangélico Mackenzie who underwent ERCP. During the study of their electronic medical records, variables such as age, sex, pre-procedure diagnosis, serum and imaging tests performed will be analyzed compared to the ERCP diagnostic results. Results: It has been demonstrated that ERCP is superior in terms of diagnosis when compared to Ultrasonography, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography. ERCP was the target of investigation with a purely diagnostic role in the sample as well as a partial diagnostic role in elucidating the causal factor obstructing the common bile duct. The guideline of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy proved to be efficient in indicating ERCP based on Ultrasound exams and the value of total serum Bilirubin. Conclusion: ERCP is superior in terms of diagnosis for biliary tract disorders. In some cases, the procedure still has an important diagnostic nature in addition to its therapeutic indication.
