Abstract

Objective: To analyze, in scientific evidence, the strategies developed by the nursing team for the humanization of palliative care. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, conducted with 161 individuals of both sexes, aged from 20 to 59 years. An integrative review was conducted, with search and selection in the databases Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Spanish Bibliographic Index of Health Sciences, and Nursing Database. Studies that evaluated strategies, perspectives, and actions for the humanization of palliative care were included, without time or language restrictions. The level of evidence classification and IRaMuTeQ software were used for knowledge evaluation and synthesis. Results: Eleven observational studies highlighted interventions aimed at patients and their families, such as promoting welcoming care, active listening, pain control, effective communication, comfort, respect for dignity and autonomy, psychological support, and spirituality. Conclusion: Nursing plays a leading role in developing strategies for comfort, well-being, and quality of life of patients and families experiencing life-threatening clinical conditions.
