Abstract

Objective: To characterize the epidemiological and clinical profile of patients with acute myocardial infarction treated in an emergency unit. Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective, and quantitative study conducted with 111 medical records. Sociodemographic variables, comorbidities, risk factors, clinical manifestations, exams, treatment, and outcomes were analyzed. Results: Male predominance (63.9%) and age between 60 and 69 years (34%). Hypertension was the most prevalent comorbidity (75%) and smoking the main risk factor (66%). Chest pain was the most frequent symptom (93%). ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction occurred in 64% of cases and 81% presented elevated troponin levels. Angioplasty was the most frequently used treatment (83%). Hospital discharge occurred in 79% of cases and death in 21%. Conclusion: The findings highlight the need for preventive strategies and improved healthcare, as well as better quality clinical records for more reliable analyses, contributing to health planning and organization of local services.
